Lucien Arkas

Lucien Arkas was born in Izmir in 1945 and graduated from Saint Joseph’s French High School, Istanbul.

He entered the business world in 1964 at the Lucien Arkas Shipping Agency and he continues to this day as Chairman of Arkas Holding and its companies.

Additionally, he holds the following positions:

• Member of the Turkish Industry & Business Association (TUSIAD)
• Member of the Board of Directors of BIMCO
• Treasurer of the Maritime Transporters’ Association-Izmir
• Member of the Aegean Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (ESIAD)
• Chairman of the Orion Education Foundation
• Chairman of the “Bizim Okul” Education Health and Culture Foundation
• Member of the High Advisory Board of the Turkish Marine Environment Protection Association (TURMEPA)
• Member of the Board of the Vasarely Foundation for Art
• Member of the Global Relations Forum (GRF)
• Member of the Alsancak Rotary Club

Lucien Arkas serves as the French Government’s Foreign Trade Commercial Counsellor and has also been honored as:

• Officer of the French National Order of Merit
• Knight of the French Legion of Honor
• Officer of the Italian Republic’s Order of Merit
• Knight of the Republic of Austria’s Großes Silbernes Order of Merit
• Doctor Honoris Causa by Dokuz Eylul University, Izmir

He is fluent in French, English, Italian and Greek.

Lucien Arkas is married and has four children.
