Hapag-Lloyd A.G., one of the leading shipping companies of the world, has been represented by Arkas in Turkey since 1989. Due to the increasing trade volume in Turkey, Hapag-Lloyd and Arkas have decided to enter a joint venture by creating a new company called Hapag-Lloyd Overseas Transport as of January 2005.
Hapag Lloyd has a wide service network in 7 continents including the USA and Africa and by adding Arkas’ country know-how, shipping experience and dedicated organization into the mix, the great synergy between the two companies allowed further cooperation in other countries: Algeria in 2006, Ukraine in 2008 and Morocco in 2016.
Currently Arkas and Hapag-Lloyd have Joint Ventures in Turkey, North Africa and Ukraine, and Arkas represents Hapag Lloyd in Algeria.
